Is it really spring? I tend not to expect the cessation of winter until mid April. I have been caught too many times, in the midst of a sloppy, slippery snowstorm, right after pulling my snow tires off, to trust this blip in the weather. BUT this morning, Cauli and I walked on dry sidewalks, with the shoulder high banks shrinking to knee high banks, listening to the cardinal’s call. It sure looks promising. I have said this before, I love winter and this was a great one, no melting, no freezing rain, lots of clean white snow. On the other hand, there was an overabundance of shoveling, snow days and many days where driving was not recommended. In our area, Hwy 21 was closed for days at a time. Whole areas of people were cut off from their normal lives and even a stanch winter lover like myself is ready for the whole thing to move on.

This winter came with many life challenges too, blowing in, drifting against the doors, blasting my life in so many ways. Times like that bring me to writing more often than good times. I tend to write my confusion and anxiety to try to make sense of them. That often takes the form of journal entries and navel gazing, second guessing myself at every turn. As the sun warms up, I am ready to get back to creative writing. What about you?
